Directed by Sukumar, the sequel to the 2021 blockbuster Pushpa: The Rise has become the highest-grossing film for its opening weekend, earning ₹781.33 crore globally within just four days.
The action-packed drama surpassed the first-weekend collections of previous hits, including Kalki 2898 AD (₹555 crore), KGF Chapter 2 (₹546 crore), Pathaan (₹543 crore), and Baahubali 2 (₹540 crore). Additionally, Pushpa 2 is the first Indian film to exceed ₹200 crore globally on a non-opening day, reflecting its immense popularity.
According to Sacnilk, the film grossed ₹282.91 crore on its opening day, followed by ₹134.63 crore on the second day, ₹159.25 crore on the third day, and ₹204.52 crore on the fourth day, breaking multiple records along the way.
Ashish Saksena, COO of Cinemas at BookMyShow, highlighted the film’s remarkable achievement, noting, “Pushpa 2: The Rule is rewriting history by becoming the fastest movie to sell 10 million tickets on BookMyShow. Single screens, contributing to 45% of ticket sales, underscore the film’s Pan-India appeal and its universal resonance across diverse audiences and regions.”
Major cities like Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR, Pune, and Chennai are driving massive turnouts, showcasing the film’s cultural impact. Fans are flocking to theaters to witness the high-octane continuation of Pushpa Raj’s saga, which explores his power struggles, intense drama, and complex relationships.
