Wipro COO Amit Choudhary Steps Down, Sanjeev Jain To Take Charge

Indian IT services giant Wipro announced a significant leadership transition today as Chief Operating Officer Amit Choudhary steps down to explore new opportunities outside the organization. Choudhary’s departure, effective immediately, marks the end of an era at Wipro, where he has played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s operations. His last day at Wipro will be on May 31.

In a swift move to maintain operational continuity, Wipro has appointed Sanjeev Jain as the new Chief Operating Officer. Jain, who assumes his role with immediate effect, brings with him a wealth of experience garnered over three decades in leading large, diverse teams and scaling up global operations. He will be based in Bengaluru and will report directly to CEO and Managing Director Srinivas Pallia.

Jain’s journey with Wipro began in 2023 when he joined as the global head of business operations. Since then, he has been at the forefront of driving Wipro’s talent supply chain, overseeing critical functions such as talent skilling, global mobility, talent acquisition, and business resilience. Notably, Jain has been instrumental in spearheading Wipro’s initiatives in AI training and upskilling, a strategic imperative for the company in today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape.

In his new role as Chief Operating Officer, Jain will assume responsibility for overseeing global business operations, the chief information office, the chief information security office, and the enterprise risk management function. This appointment underscores Wipro’s commitment to fortifying its operational infrastructure under Jain’s seasoned leadership.

Prior to joining Wipro, Jain held key positions at prominent organizations including Kyndryl Holdings (IBM spin-off), IBM, Cognizant, and GE. His tenure at these industry giants has equipped him with invaluable insights into navigating the complexities of the IT services landscape. Jain is an alumnus of the prestigious Indian Institute of Management, Mumbai, further underscoring his strong pedigree in business leadership.

In response to his appointment, Jain expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity, stating, “I am honored to take on this new role at Wipro, a company renowned for its commitment to excellence and innovation. I look forward to collaborating closely with our talented teams as we continue to drive operational efficiency and deliver exceptional value to our clients.”

Srinivas Pallia, CEO and Managing Director of Wipro, extended his best wishes to Jain, expressing confidence in his ability to steer Wipro’s operational functions towards continued success. “Sanjeev’s extensive experience and proven track record make him the ideal candidate to lead our global operations. We are confident that under his guidance, Wipro will further strengthen its position as a global leader in IT services,” remarked Pallia.

The transition marks a significant chapter in Wipro’s journey as it navigates the dynamic landscape of the IT industry. With Jain at the helm of operations, the company is poised to embark on a new phase of growth and innovation, reaffirming its commitment to delivering cutting-edge solutions to clients worldwide.
