In a significant push towards the ‘Make in India’ initiative, Gurugram-based Drone Planet has launched its much-anticipated Drone-as-a-Service (DaaS) platform to bolster India’s drone ecosystem. With this launch, Drone Planet aims to onboard over 200 local drone service providers by 2025, creating a dynamic marketplace that connects drone entrepreneurs, DGCA-certified pilots, fleet owners, and component manufacturers under one roof.
The DaaS platform will facilitate service discovery across categories such as aerial inspection, agriculture, surveillance, photography, mapping, and mining. By aggregating both service seekers and providers, Drone Planet is positioning itself as a “single-window” platform for India’s rapidly scaling drone market—estimated to touch ₹40,000 Cr by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 20.4%.
Speaking on the launch, Preet Sandhuu, Promoter and Mentor of Drone Planet, said, “Our mission with Drone Planet is to give wings to local manufacturers and service providers, extending their reach beyond their immediate networks.”
With access to over 20,000 verified buyers, Drone Planet is offering zero-cost marketplace entry to manufacturers. The platform further supports a drop-shipping model, eliminating capital overheads and enabling direct shipping from manufacturers to buyers. This move makes it easier for smaller drone makers to compete at scale.
Drone Planet is also actively participating in the government’s ‘Drone Didi’ scheme and aims to train 6,500+ drone pilots by 2025 through its network of 31 onboarded Remote Pilot Training Organizations (RPTOs).
In its roadmap, the company is looking to automate operations and expand internationally to Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Western markets by 2028, with India serving as the back office for global operations. Furthermore, Drone Planet is planning partnerships with financial institutions to provide funding access to local manufacturers, aiming to ease capital barriers in drone production and sales.
Currently, the platform has listed 26 manufacturers, 42 products, 66 job listings, and already serves as a critical node for a growing industry that has seen over 33,000 Unique Identification Numbers (UINs) issued in India as of June 2025.
With its end-to-end platform and strategic industry collaborations, Drone Planet is not only building an ecosystem—but catalyzing India’s ambition to become a global drone manufacturing and services hub.
