In a strategic move reflecting its evolving business landscape, Indian foodtech giant Zomato has officially rebranded itself as Eternal Limited. The change took effect on March 20, 2025, following the approval from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA).

“The name of the company, thus, stands amended to ‘Eternal Limited’ with effect from March 20, 2025, and the Memorandum and Articles of Association of the company stand altered accordingly,” the company stated in an exchange filing.

This marks the second major rebranding for the company, which started as Foodiebay in 2008 before adopting the name as Zomato in 2010. The shift aligns with Eternal’s broader business ambitions, moving beyond food delivery to encompass quick commerce via Blinkit, B2B food supply through Hyperpure, and dining and events under District.

According to Zomato co-founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal, the company had internally referred to itself as “Eternal” following the acquisition of Blinkit in 2022. “We also thought that we would publicly rename the company to Eternal, the day something beyond Zomato became a significant driver of our future. Today, with Blinkit, I feel we are there,” Goyal stated in a letter to shareholders last month.

The company emphasized that while the corporate entity will now be known as Eternal Limited, the Zomato brand and app will continue to operate as usual. The rebrand will also see the company transition to a new corporate website, eternal.com, and update its stock ticker from “ZOMATO” to “ETERNAL.”

The timing of the transition coincides with Blinkit’s emergence as a key revenue driver. In the third quarter of the fiscal year 2024-25 (Q3 FY25), the quick commerce division contributed INR 1,399 crore, or a quarter of Zomato’s total operating revenue of INR 5,405 crore. Market analysts predict that Blinkit could surpass Zomato’s core food delivery business by 2030.
