Stock Market Live: Second phase of special session ends higher! Nifty at 22,500, Sensex at 74,000

The benchmark equity indices closed the second phase of the special trading session on a positive note. The NSE Nifty 50 concluded with a gain of 36 points or 0.16%, reaching a settlement at 22,502, while the BSE Sensex recorded a rise of 90 points or 0.12%, closing at 74,005.94. Broader indices also ended in positive territory, with the Bank Nifty index registering a gain of 83.85 points or 0.17%, settling at 48,199.50. Media and realty stocks stood out as top performers among the sectoral indices.

Indian stock markets are poised for continued activity on Saturday, May 18, 2024, with both the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) holding a scheduled special trading session. This extended trading period reflects the market’s resilience and adaptability amidst evolving economic landscapes and investor sentiments. The cash market’s primary session is scheduled to commence with the morning block deal window from 8:45 AM to 9:00 AM, facilitating early trades. The primary session will then run from 9:15 AM to 10:00 AM, providing ample time for transactions before a brief break until 11:15 AM.

Subsequently, the second session at the disaster recovery site will kick off with a pre-open session from 11:15 AM to 11:23 AM, ensuring a smooth transition. Normal trading will then occur from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, offering investors further opportunities for engagement. Post-close, order closing and modifications will be permitted until 1:00 PM, allowing for any necessary adjustments. This structured approach ensures continuity and efficiency in market operations, even in challenging circumstances.
