Sensex Gain 300 Points To Scale Fresh Record High, Nifty Above 23,500

Equity markets soared to new peaks as the BSE Sensex hit a record 77,327 and the Nifty50 rose above 23,500, buoyed by strong global cues and sector-specific gains.

In a robust start to the trading day on Tuesday, Indian equity markets surged to fresh record highs propelled by solid global momentum. The BSE Sensex surged to a new lifetime peak of 77,327 points, marking a substantial gain of 300 points. Simultaneously, the Nifty50 index surpassed the 23,500 level to achieve an all-time high of 23,574, with an increase of 110 points from the previous close.

The broader market indices also reflected positive sentiment, with the BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices posting gains of 0.34% and 1% respectively.

Sector-wise, the performance was mixed but predominantly bullish. The Nifty Pharma index was the sole laggard, experiencing a minor decline of 0.08%. Conversely, the Nifty Auto index led the gains with a rise of 0.6%, followed closely by the Nifty IT index which advanced by 0.4%.

Global market cues remained supportive throughout the session, with major Asian indices showing robust gains. Australia’s ASX200, Japan’s Nikkei, and South Korea’s Kospi all climbed 0.8% each, underscoring positive investor sentiment across the region.

Specifically, automaker Hyundai made headlines by achieving a fresh record high, gaining 1.8% in Korean trading, following news of its plans to list its India unit, a move anticipated to further boost market enthusiasm.

Overnight in the US, Wall Street continued its upward trajectory, with the S&P 500 closing at a new record high, up 0.77%. The Nasdaq Composite surged 0.95%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average also recorded gains, rising 0.49% to break a four-day losing streak.

The buoyant performance across global markets, coupled with sector-specific strength and optimistic investor sentiment, sets a promising tone for further market developments as trading continues through the week.
