As preparations for Budget 2025 are underway, experts from various industries are sharing their views on the potential impact of the budget on their sectors. Ravi Jakhar, Chief Strategy Officer of Allcargo Logistics, has provided significant insights into the logistics sector, emphasizing the crucial role infrastructure development will play in its growth. According to Jakhar, initiatives like the National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP) and the Prime Minister GatiShakti National Master Plan are expected to drive substantial progress in the logistics industry.

Jakhar explained that continued government push for infrastructure development will significantly enhance the efficiency of the logistics sector. A strong network of roads, railways, airways, and waterways, along with the expansion of multi-modal logistics parks, development of renewable energy infrastructure, and the strengthening of digital infrastructure, will drive economic activities across the country. This will not only improve the logistics sector’s service delivery capacity but will also promote sustainability and geographic expansion of business operations.

He added, “The push for infrastructure development will allow the logistics sector to become more efficient and cost-effective. By expanding our logistics network, we will open new avenues for business, enabling supply chains to become more efficient.”

Jakhar also emphasized the importance of sustained capital expenditure (Capex) to attract private investment into logistics infrastructure. While he acknowledged the long gestation period of infrastructure projects, he pointed out that the government must take a leading role in Capex investments for logistics infrastructure to enhance supply chain efficiency.

“It is essential for the government to lead in infrastructure investments, especially in logistics. The benefits of such investments are long-term, and only through continuous effort can we build the robust infrastructure needed for logistics to thrive,” he said.

The Allcargo executive also stressed the need for a comprehensive and well-coordinated approach in investing in logistics infrastructure. With the right focus, Jakhar believes that India’s logistics sector can not only improve domestically but also become globally competitive.

“Upgrading logistics infrastructure will reduce costs in production and supply, while also ensuring sustainability and long-term growth for the sector,” Jakhar added. Furthermore, the development of multi-modal logistics parks and renewable energy systems will create new employment opportunities, contributing to overall economic growth.

In conclusion, Jakhar stated that if Budget 2025 allocates adequate resources and attention to logistics sector development, it could play a pivotal role in driving India’s economic growth. For this, a strong and proactive government role will be crucial to realizing the full potential of the logistics industry.
