Apple Inc. has officially entered the top five smartphone brands in India for the first time since it began selling iPhones in the country. According to the latest CyberMedia Research (CMR) report, while Vivo, Xiaomi, and Samsung continue to lead the market, Apple’s performance has been notable, marking a significant milestone in its Indian journey.

In the October-December quarter, Apple achieved its 11th consecutive record revenue, with analysts estimating that iPhone revenue in India hit $10 billion for the year. CEO Tim Cook highlighted India’s increasing importance as both a consumption market and an export hub. He noted that Apple’s performance in India was particularly strong, with the iPhone being the top-selling model during the quarter. Cook also revealed plans to open four new Apple stores in India, reflecting the company’s growing focus on the market.

India, now the third-largest smartphone market globally, is poised to become Apple’s third-largest market overall by 2026, following the U.S. and China. Apple’s shipments in India surged to over 12 million units in 2024, marking a 34–35% year-on-year growth from 9 million in 2023.

In 2024, Apple also began local production of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max through its contract manufacturers, Foxconn and Pegatron. Apple reported a 23% growth in net profit to ₹2,745.7 crore for FY2023-24, driven by a 36% revenue increase to ₹67,121.6 crore.
