International Prostitution Racket Busted in Hyderabad

The Cyberabad police in Hyderabad have successfully dismantled an international prostitution racket, arresting eight individuals, including a Mumbai-based film writer, in a week-long operation. The accused, who have been evading law enforcement in multiple cases under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, were apprehended following extensive investigations into their activities.

The primary suspect, Mohit Satpal Garg, 28, reportedly orchestrated the network since 2020, allegedly trafficking between 300 to 400 women from various cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Kolkata into prostitution. Another key figure, Jai Saha, 40, has been implicated in similar activities since 2018, facilitating the exploitation of women in Hyderabad’s hotels. Among those arrested is a 26-year-old woman from Bangladesh, who initially fell victim to the trade before becoming involved in running a brothel herself.

Police investigations revealed that the gang utilized call centers to lure women, posting advertisements on various websites and using WhatsApp groups to share photos of victims with potential clients. The financial arrangement involved the main organizer receiving 40% of the proceeds, while the victim and the broker split the remaining 60% equally. Authorities seized a substantial amount of evidence during the arrests, including 35 mobile phones, five laptops, and multiple financial documents, indicating the scale of the operation.

The Cyberabad police’s Anti-Human Trafficking Unit emphasized that this crackdown highlights ongoing efforts to combat human trafficking and exploitation in the region. The arrested individuals are linked to cases registered in both Madhapur and Gachibowli police stations, and special teams were dispatched to Mumbai to facilitate the arrests. This operation underscores the persistent issue of trafficking and the need for continued vigilance and enforcement against such criminal activities.
