In a strategic leadership move, food delivery and quick commerce major Swiggy has elevated long-time executive Saurav Goyal to the role of Senior Vice President and Head – Driver & Delivery Organisation. The announcement was made on Tuesday, marking a crucial shift as the company looks to double down on its delivery partner ecosystem at a time of heightened competition in India’s quick commerce space.
Goyal, who has been part of Swiggy for over five years, previously held key responsibilities in business finance, serving as both Vice President and Senior Vice President. In his new role, he will now lead initiatives aimed at strengthening Swiggy’s delivery partner network, which forms the backbone of the platform’s hyperlocal logistics.
Announcing the development on LinkedIn, Goyal shared, “While I’ll still be leading Business Finance for a bit, my energy is now shifting to the heart of Swiggy’s mission — our amazing delivery partners. They’re the backbone of our reliability and reach.”
Swiggy has confirmed that Goyal will continue to lead business finance until a suitable replacement is appointed. His dual role at this transitional phase underscores the company’s trust in his cross-functional capabilities and long-term vision.
Before joining Swiggy, Goyal held senior finance roles at leading tech and mobility companies, including Ola Consumer, Flipkart, and Tata Communications. His experience in driving operational and financial strategy at high-growth digital firms positions him well for Swiggy’s next phase of scale and execution.
The move comes just weeks after Swiggy roped in Ankit Jain, a former Flipkart executive, as Senior Vice President of Operations. At Flipkart, Jain led grocery operations and built out the supply chain for its quick commerce initiative Flipkart Minutes. His addition signalled Swiggy’s growing focus on supply chain efficiency and faster fulfilment.
With both Goyal and Jain in expanded leadership roles, Swiggy appears to be sharpening its strategic focus on two fronts — financial resilience and last-mile reliability. This is especially critical as the quick commerce sector intensifies, with rivals like Zepto, Blinkit, and Instamart aggressively expanding dark store networks, delivery fleets, and regional footprints.
Swiggy’s latest appointments are not only aimed at streamlining internal operations but also at enhancing delivery partner experience — a key pillar in ensuring faster delivery times and greater customer satisfaction. As the company prepares for its much-anticipated IPO, aligning leadership with core executional challenges becomes even more vital.
The quick commerce space is witnessing a transformative shift, with user expectations around 10-minute deliveries, order accuracy, and availability at an all-time high. With Saurav Goyal stepping into the driver seat of delivery operations, Swiggy is betting on its internal talent to steer through this competitive phase with agility, empathy, and efficiency.
