Ola Electric, a leader in India’s electric two-wheeler market, has reported impressive sales figures for February 2025, selling over 25,000 units and maintaining a commanding 28% market share. This milestone reinforces the company’s position as the dominant player in the rapidly growing segment, with significant growth seen across its comprehensive S1 portfolio and robust sales and service infrastructure.
The company attributes its strong performance to the expansive reach of its sales and service network, which spans more than 4,000 stores across India. A spokesperson for Ola Electric highlighted the increasing demand from smaller cities and towns, stating, “We are now witnessing a strong uptick in demand beyond urban cities from Tier 3 & 4 towns.” This expansion into less urbanized areas signals the growing acceptance of electric mobility across the country, far beyond the metro cities where electric two-wheelers were traditionally popular.
Looking ahead, Ola Electric is optimistic about further growth with the anticipated delivery of its highly awaited Roadster X motorcycle series next month. The company is expanding its portfolio with this new electric motorcycle line, which is expected to attract more customers, particularly those seeking high-performance electric bikes.
Market Adjustments and New Product Launches
In February, Ola Electric also renegotiated contracts with vehicle registration agencies, a move that temporarily impacted its registration numbers on the VAHAN portal. The company clarified that this was part of its efforts to streamline operations and reduce costs while improving the vehicle registration process. Despite this temporary setback, Ola Electric’s overall growth trajectory remains strong.
Adding to its product offerings, the company launched its new Gen-3 portfolio, which includes models priced between ₹79,999 for the S1 X (2kWh) and ₹1,69,999 for the high-end S1 Pro+ (5.3kWh), with introductory rates aimed at making electric mobility more accessible. The new models come equipped with Ola’s latest MoveOS 5 beta software, offering advanced features such as Brake by Wire, Smart Park, and customizable DIY ride modes, further enhancing the user experience.
Ola Electric’s foray into the electric motorcycle market with its Roadster X series marks a significant expansion for the company. With a starting price of ₹74,999 for the base Roadster X model and ₹1,54,999 for the premium Roadster X+ 9.1kWh version, the motorcycles feature the company’s cutting-edge 4680 Bharat Cell technology, offering an impressive range of up to 501 km on a single charge. The new motorcycle range is expected to attract a more diverse customer base looking for longer-range, high-performance electric vehicles.
India’s Growing Electric Two-Wheeler Market
The success of Ola Electric comes amid the continued growth of India’s electric two-wheeler market, which has been fueled by government incentives, increasing environmental awareness, and the rising cost of fuel. As more consumers look for sustainable transportation options, electric two-wheelers have become an increasingly popular choice.
Founded in 2017 as a subsidiary of the ride-hailing company Ola, Ola Electric has quickly established itself as a major force in India’s electric mobility sector. With competition from both traditional automotive manufacturers and new electric vehicle startups, Ola Electric’s expansion and innovation in both the scooter and motorcycle segments position it well to maintain its leadership in the world’s largest two-wheeler market.
With the continued adoption of electric vehicles and new product innovations on the horizon, Ola Electric is poised for further success as it continues to lead the charge in India’s electric mobility revolution.
