The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has intensified its crackdown on non-certified products. Recent raids targeted Amazon and Flipkart warehouses in multiple cities. Authorities conducted search and seizure operations in Lucknow, Gurugram, and Delhi.
On March 7, officials raided an Amazon warehouse in Lucknow. They seized 215 toys and 24 hand blenders lacking BIS certification. In February, a similar raid took place at an Amazon warehouse in Gurugram. Authorities confiscated 58 aluminium foils, 34 metallic water bottles, 25 toys, 20 hand blenders, seven PVC cables, two food mixers, and one speaker. None of these products had the required certification.
A Flipkart warehouse in Gurugram also faced action. This facility, operated by Instakart Services Pvt Ltd, stored several uncertified products. Bureau of Indian Standards seized 534 stainless steel bottles (vacuum insulated), 134 toys, and 41 speakers. Investigations linked these non-certified goods to Techvision International Pvt Ltd.
Following this lead, BIS raided two Techvision International facilities in Delhi. Officials discovered approximately 7,000 electric water heaters and 4,000 electric food mixers. Additionally, they seized 95 electric room heaters and 40 gas stoves. None of these items had the necessary BIS certification.
Several well-known brands were involved in these seizures. These include Digismart, Activa, Inalsa, Cello Swift, and Butterfly. The BIS is now working to ensure compliance across all e-commerce platforms.
The BIS continues to take strict action against non-compliant sellers. Their goal is to protect consumer rights and maintain product safety standards. Online shoppers are urged to check for BIS certification before purchasing products.
