Mercedes-Benz India has reported its strongest half-yearly sales performance to date, achieving a record figure of 9,262 units sold in the first six months of 2024. This marks a significant 9% increase from the 8,528 units sold during the January-June period of 2023, which was previously its highest half-yearly sales.
The company attributes this exceptional performance to robust demand across all segments and the availability of its volume models in the market.
In a statement, Mercedes-Benz India announced its intention to introduce six new models in the second half of 2024. The company’s SUV lineup contributed significantly to its sales, with the Top-End Vehicle (TEV) category, priced above ₹1.5 crore, accounting for 25% of total sales during H1 2024.
The SUV segment, including models like GLA, GLC, GLE, and GLS, continued to perform strongly. Meanwhile, the sedan portfolio featuring A-Class, C-Class, LWB E-Class, and S-Class maintained its popularity among luxury sedan enthusiasts.
Mercedes-Benz India highlighted a 60% increase in Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) sales in the first half of 2024, contributing 5% to the overall sales figures.
Santosh Iyer, Managing Director & CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, attributed the record sales to new and updated products, enhanced retail experience, and positive customer sentiments. He stated, “The best-ever first-half sales figure is a testament to our commitment to customer satisfaction and product excellence.”
Looking ahead, the company remains optimistic about the prospects for the remainder of the year. Iyer commented, “We are gearing up for the festive season with new product launches, and we expect to conclude the year with a double-digit growth as per our earlier projections.”
Mercedes-Benz India continues to strengthen its position in the luxury automobile market in India, focusing on expanding its product portfolio and enhancing customer engagement strategies.
