Equity markets experienced volatility on Monday, with the Sensex and Nifty settling in the red after reaching new record highs for the third consecutive day. The BSE Sensex, achieving a lifetime peak of 76,010, concluded at 75,391, marking a decline of 20 points. Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty50, reaching a high of 23,111, closed at 22,932, down 25 points.
Stock Performance:
On the Sensex, Wipro witnessed a decrease of 2.36 percent, with other losers including NTPC, Sun Pharma, M&M, ITC, and Reliance. Conversely, IndusInd Bank, Axis Bank, Bajaj Finance, HDFC Bank, L&T, and SBI emerged as gainers.
In broader markets, the BSE Midcap index reached a new all-time high of 43,985 intraday, ultimately closing at 43,784, up by 0.63 percent. However, the Smallcap index concluded 0.09 percent lower.
