In a recent exclusive interview, Sonam Garg Sharma, the founder of Medical Linkers and Aryan Jakhar, Founder, Business Headline.
Sonam Garg Sharma shared her insights on the transformative impact of the Union Budget 2025 on India’s medical tourism sector. With a focus on healthcare and tourism, the budget aims to position India as a global hub for affordable and high-quality medical care.
When did this concept first take shape, and when was it officially launched?
The idea for Medical Linkers was born from my personal experiences navigating the complexities of healthcare access. I realized there were significant barriers for patients seeking treatment abroad, which inspired me to create a solution. We officially launched Medical Linkers in 2016, with the goal of simplifying medical tourism and ensuring that patients receive the best possible care.
What would you say is the unique selling proposition (USP) of Medical Linkers?
Our USP lies in our patient-centric approach. We provide comprehensive support throughout the medical journey—from initial consultations to post-treatment care. We focus on personalized service, ensuring that each patient receives tailored solutions that fit their specific needs, whether it’s finding the right hospital or arranging travel logistics.
Can you explain your revenue model?
Our revenue model primarily consists of service fees charged to patients for our consulting services. Additionally, we partner with hospitals and healthcare providers, earning commissions for every patient referral. We also offer premium packages that include travel and accommodation arrangements, which further contribute to our revenue stream.
What is your vision for the future of Medical Linkers?
My vision is to expand our global reach while maintaining our high standards of quality and personalized care. I aim to leverage technology to enhance patient experiences—such as developing an app that provides real-time updates and support throughout their medical journey. Ultimately, I want Medical Linkers to be synonymous with trust and excellence in medical tourism.
What are your thoughts on Budget 2025?
Sonam Garg Sharma views the Union Budget 2025 as a transformative initiative for India’s medical tourism sector. The emphasis on healthcare and tourism, particularly through the ‘Heal in India’ initiative and a ₹20,000 crore allocation, solidifies India’s status as a global hub for affordable, high-quality medical care. By streamlining visa processes and enhancing infrastructure at key tourist destinations, the government is making it easier for international patients to access world-class treatment while experiencing India’s rich cultural heritage.
Moreover, the establishment of 200 cancer centers across districts will significantly improve access to specialized care. The support for gig workers through identity cards and healthcare coverage further strengthens India’s workforce. As a medical tourism company, we welcome these initiatives and are eager to contribute to promoting India as a premier healthcare destination. These developments are expected to boost medical tourism and positively impact India’s economic growth by attracting more international patients and healthcare investments.
