The domestic equity market showed positive momentum during the morning trade on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, with major indices registering moderate gains. As of 10:31 AM, the S&P BSE SENSEX was trading at 76,805.76 points, up by 306.13 points, or 0.40%, indicating a healthy uptick in investor sentiment. Similarly, the broader NIFTY50 index was also in the green, trading at 23,234.95 points, up by 58.90 points, or 0.25%. This positive movement reflected optimism in the market, with gains across a range of sectors, even though the broader market showed some mixed performance.

Among the 50 stocks on the NIFTY index, 27 were in the green, signaling positive sentiment, while 23 stocks were trading in the red, reflecting some profit-booking in certain counters.

The top five gainers on the Nifty 50 included heavyweight stocks such as Maruti, which benefitted from strong domestic demand for automobiles, NTPC, benefiting from a stable power generation outlook, Adani Ports, showing growth due to strong logistics performance, BPCL, supported by favorable oil prices, and Kotak Mahindra Bank, which posted robust growth in its financial results.

On the other hand, the top five losers included Bajaj Finserv and Bajaj Finance, which faced some pressure due to concerns over asset quality and higher borrowing costs. Shriram Finance also saw some downside, while M&M and SBI Life faced minor declines due to cautious outlooks in the automotive and insurance sectors. Despite the mixed bag of gainers and losers, the overall sentiment remained positive, driven by strong earnings reports and stable global cues.
