A 26-year-old woman named Sendo Devi tragically took her own life in Jharkhand after feeling distressed over her husband not gifting her a saree for the Dussehra festival. The incident occurred on Saturday in Bagjhopa village, Dumka district, where she allegedly jumped in front of a train.
According to police reports, Sendo had requested a new saree for the occasion, but her husband, a tractor driver, was unable to afford it. This financial constraint reportedly led to her despair. Sendo was a mother of two young children, adding to the tragedy of the situation.
Authorities have sent her body for a post-mortem examination, and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death is currently underway. This heartbreaking incident highlights ongoing issues related to mental health and societal pressures faced by women in similar situations across India.
