PM, Home Minister “misusing” office of Governors: Congress

Congress has accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah of “misusing” the office of Governors to further their political agenda. This allegation follows revelations made by former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik, who has raised serious concerns regarding national security and corruption linked to the central government.

During a press conference, Congress leader Parmod Tiwari demanded accountability from the Prime Minister and Home Minister in light of Malik’s claims about intelligence failures that contributed to the 2019 Pulwama terror attack. Malik has alleged that there were significant lapses, including the denial of air transport for security personnel, which he believes exacerbated the situation during the attack that resulted in the deaths of 40 soldiers.

Tiwari emphasized that Malik’s assertions are not mere political rhetoric but come from a governor appointed by the BJP, making them particularly significant. He questioned how RDX was smuggled into Jammu and Kashmir and why adequate air services were not provided to soldiers during critical times. The Congress leader also highlighted Malik’s claims of being offered bribes to favor influential business interests, suggesting that Jammu and Kashmir has been exploited under BJP rule.

The Congress party’s demands for answers reflect broader concerns about governance and accountability within the current administration. Tiwari’s remarks indicate a growing frustration with what he termed a “criminal silence” from the top leadership of the BJP regarding serious allegations that could impact national security and integrity.

As political tensions rise ahead of upcoming elections, these accusations could have significant implications for both the Congress party and the ruling BJP, as they navigate public perception and accountability in governance.
