The majority of Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai’s $226 million in compensation in 2022 consisted of stock awards, according to a securities filing made by the company on Friday.
Pichai was granted $218 million in equity through a triennial stock grant last year. From 2020 to 2022, his annual salary was $2 million, according to the filing. In 2022, the CEO’s compensation package included nearly $6 million for personal security.
According to the filing, other Alphabet and Google executives received between $22 million and $35 million in annual stock awards.
The report arrives as Alphabet implements cost-restructuring measures, including the January termination of 12,000 employees, or 6% of its workforce. Ruth Porat, Google’s chief financial officer, announced in early April that the company would reduce expenditures on employee laptops and services.
