FIFA, the international governing body of football, confirmed Monday the removal of Peru’s hosting rights for the 2023 Under-17 World Cup after the country failed to finish the necessary infrastructure.
FIFA committed to preserving the tournament date of November 10–December 2, 2023, after prolonged discussions with the Peruvian Football Association.
“The Bureau of the FIFA Council will now designate a new host in due course,” it added.
According to FIFA, Peru does not have enough time to get the required funding and complete the necessary work before the tournament’s start date.
