Addressing the nation from the historic Red Fort, he declared that the government will create 75,000 new seats in medical colleges across the country over the next five years. PM Modi’s announcement comes at a time when around 25,000 Indian students are reported to go abroad each year for medical studies, often to countries that may not have the same educational standards as India.
