One Trapped as 3-Storey Building Collapses in Navi Mumbai

The incident occurred late last night, and rescue operations are currently underway to safely extract the trapped individual.

In a tragic incident, a three-storey residential building collapsed in Navi Mumbai’s Taloja area, leaving one person trapped under the debris. The incident occurred late last night, and rescue operations are currently underway to safely extract the trapped individual.

According to the authorities, the building, located in the Taloja Phase 1 area, suddenly gave way, catching the residents by surprise. Immediate rescue efforts were launched by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) and the local police, with teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) also joining the operation.

“We received a call about the building collapse around 11 pm last night. Our teams rushed to the site and found that a three-storey structure had completely crumbled,” said an NMMC official. “One person is still trapped inside, and we are working tirelessly to rescue them safely.”

The cause of the collapse is yet to be ascertained, but authorities suspect that structural weaknesses and lack of maintenance may have contributed to the incident. The building, which was over 20 years old, had not undergone any major renovations in recent years.

“It is a tragic situation, and we are doing everything in our power to ensure the safe rescue of the trapped individual,” said the police commissioner. “We are also investigating the cause of the collapse and will take appropriate action against those responsible.”

The incident has once again highlighted the need for regular building inspections and maintenance, especially in densely populated areas like Navi Mumbai. Authorities have urged residents to be vigilant and report any structural concerns to the relevant authorities to prevent such incidents in the future.
