Sensex surges over 500 points, Nifty trades around 17,475 on strong cues

On Friday, the Sensex and Nifty recovered significantly in early morning trading due to a strong global mood.

The BSE Sensex was up 500 points at 9.35 a.m. to 59,409, while the NSE Nifty was up 154 points at 17,475.

Apart from Sun Pharma and Asian Paints, the other 28 Sensex scrips were trading in the green, with SBI leading by more than 3.6%. PowerGrid, IndusInd, NTPC, HCL, and Reliance were among the other big gainers.

Individual stocks rose more than 2% as Ramco Systems teamed with Etihad Airways Engineering to install its Aviation Suite V5.9. In addition, Indiabulls Housing Finance’s stock rose more than 1% after the business announced a Rs 900-crore debt issuance through NCDs.

The Nifty Midcap 100 and Nifty Smallcap 100 indexes both rose 0.7%.

Meanwhile, the India VIX volatility index fell by more than 5%.

All sectors were trading in the green, with the Nifty PSU Bank and Nifty Metal indexes leading the way, rising up to 3%.

On Thursday, the BSE Sensex fell 502 points to 58,909. The NSE Nifty, on the other hand, concluded trading at 17,322, down 129 points.
