Domestic equities began trading higher on Friday, led by gains in HCL Technologies following the company’s modest fourth-quarter FY23 gains. The Sensex gained 109.93 points, or 0.18 percent, to reach 59,742.28. NSE’s Nifty50 opened at 17,655.35, up 30.90 points, or 0.18 percent.
HCLTech surged 2.69 percent in the first hour of trading, boosting the Nifty IT index, which rose 0.17 percent, and the S&P BSE IT index, which rose 95.26 points.
During the opening trade, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bajaj Finance, Power Grid, Axis Bank, Wipro, IndusInd Bank, HDFC Life, UPL, and Divis Lab were among the top gainers.
Among the top casualties were JSW Steel, Tata Steel, Tech Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, NTPC, Dr. Reddy, and M&M.
